I genuinely love that.ĭiablo 3 is impressive in that it caters to both casual gamers and obsessives. You can’t pay-to-win, and players spend money largely out of appreciation. That being said I have tremendous respect for the devs - they’ve managed to make a profitable free multiplayer game for grownups.

To me, it’s basically an elaborate haggling simulator with a well above average treasure hunting minigame. But, the lack of a standard currency ultimately turns the gameplay into a secondary activity. It’s just frustrating how generic the first 5-10 hours of gameplay tend to be. Also, the skills/classes eventually become both complex and interesting. Act 2 is both more interesting and prettier to look at. My frustration with it is that the first act is dull and the classes are generic and uninteresting to start. It’s also possible to play with both zero preparation or planning every item and level-up from 1-100. It’s also incredibly cheap to respec everything except your class - many games don’t respect your time that way. There are a lot of very good builds and even more that don’t cut it.
